This gene encodes a major constituent of the humancomplement subcomponent C1q. C1q associates with C1r and C1s inorder to yield the first component of the serum complement system.A deficiency in C1q has been associated with lupus erythematosusand glomerulonephritis. C1q is composed of 18 polypeptide chains:six A-chains, six B-chains, and six C-chains. Each chain contains acollagen-like region located near the N-terminus, and a C-terminalglobular region. The A-, B-, and C-chains are arranged in the orderA-C-B on chromosome 1. This gene encodes the C-chain polypeptide ofhuman complement subcomponent C1q. Alternatively spliced transcriptvariants that encode the same protein have been found for thisgene.
The stated application concentrations are suggested starting points. Titration of the C1QC antibody may be required due to differences in protocols and secondary/substrate sensitivity.
A portion of amino acids 93-120 from the human protein was used as the immunogen for the C1QC antibody.
Aliquot the C1QC antibody and store frozen at -20oC or colder. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
