The protein encoded by this gene is a signal transducershared by many cytokines, including interleukin 6 (IL6), ciliaryneurotrophic factor (CNTF), leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF), andoncostatin M (OSM). This protein functions as a part of thecytokine receptor complex. The activation of this protein isdependent upon the binding of cytokines to their receptors. vIL6, aprotein related to IL6 and encoded by the Kaposi sarcoma-associatedherpesvirus, can bypass the interleukin 6 receptor (IL6R) anddirectly activate this protein. Knockout studies in mice suggestthat this gene plays a critical role in regulating myocyteapoptosis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encodingdistinct isoforms have been described. A related pseudogene hasbeen identified on chromosome 17.
The stated application concentrations are suggested starting points. Titration of the CD130 antibody may be required due to differences in protocols and secondary/substrate sensitivity.
A portion of amino acids 871-899 from the human protein were used as the immunogen for the CD130 antibody.
Aliquot the CD130 antibody and store frozen at -20oC or colder. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
