This gene, CYP1A1, encodes a member of the cytochrome P450superfamily of enzymes. The cytochrome P450 proteins aremonooxygenases which catalyze many reactions involved in drugmetabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids and other lipids. This protein localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum and itsexpression is induced by some polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs), some of which are found in cigarette smoke. The enzyme"sendogenous substrate is unknown; however, it is able to metabolizesome PAHs to carcinogenic intermediates. The gene has beenassociated with lung cancer risk. A related family member, CYP1A2,is located approximately 25 kb away from CYP1A1 on chromosome 15.
Titration of the CYP1A1 antibody may be required due to differences in protocols and secondary/substrate sensitivity.
A portion of amino acids 377-405 from the human protein was used as the immunogen for this CYP1A1 antibody.
Aliquot the CYP1A1 antibody and store frozen at -20oC or colder.Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
