This gene encodes a member of the protein kinasesuperfamily and the doublecortin family. The protein encoded bythis gene contains two N-terminal doublecortin domains, which bindmicrotubules and regulate microtubule polymerization, a C-terminalserine/threonine protein kinase domain, which shows substantialhomology to Ca2+/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase, and aserine/proline-rich domain in between the doublecortin and theprotein kinase domains, which mediates multiple protein-proteininteractions. The microtubule-polymerizing activity of the encodedprotein is independent of its protein kinase activity. Mousestudies show that the DCX gene, another family member, and thisgene share function in the establishment of hippocampalorganization and that their absence results in a severe epilepticphenotype and lethality, as described in human patients withlissencephaly. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variantshave been identified.
Titration of the DCLK2 antibody may be required due to differences in protocols and secondary/substrate sensitivity.
A portion of amino acids 167-196 from the human protein was used as the immunogen for this DCLK2 antibody.
Aliquot the DCLK2 antibody and store frozen at -20oC or colder.Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
