This gene encodes the enzyme responsible for formation ofthe blood group I antigen. The i and I antigens are distinguishedby linear and branched poly-N-acetyllactosaminoglycans,respectively. The encoded protein is the I-branching enzyme, abeta-1,6-N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase responsible for theconversion of fetal i antigen to adult I antigen in erythrocytesduring embryonic development. Mutations in this gene have beenassociated with adult i blood group phenotype. Alternativelyspliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have beendescribed.
Titration of the GCNT2 antibody may be required due to differences in protocols and secondary/substrate sensitivity.
A portion of amino acids 364-391 from the human protein was used as the immunogen for this GCNT2 antibody.
Aliquot the GCNT2 antibody and store frozen at -20oC or colder.Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
