This gene encodes a transcription factor containing a POUhomeodomain. This transcription factor plays a role in embryonicdevelopment, especially during early embryogenesis, and it isnecessary for embryonic stem cell pluripotency. A translocation ofthis gene with the Ewing"s sarcoma gene, t(6;22)(p21;q12), has beenlinked to tumor formation. Alternative splicing, as well as usageof alternative translation initiation codons, results in multipleisoforms, one of which initiates at a non-AUG (CUG) start codon.Related pseudogenes have been identified on chromosomes 1, 3, 8,10, and 12.
Titration of the Oct3/4 antibody may be required due to differences in protocols and secondary/substrate sensitivity.
A portion of amino acids 265-297 from the human protein was used as the immunogen for this Oct3/4 antibody.
Aliquot the Oct3/4 antibody and store frozen at -20oC or colder.Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
