Osteoclasts are multinucleated cells that resorb bone andare essential for bone homeostasis. This gene encodes anosteoclast-associated receptor (OSCAR), which is a member of theleukocyte receptor complex (LRC) protein family that plays criticalroles in the regulation of both innate and adaptive immuneresponses. Different from the other LRC members, OSCAR expressionis detected specifically in preosteoclasts or mature osteoclasts.OSCAR may be an important bone-specific regulator of osteoclastdifferentiation. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variantsencoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
Titration of the OSCAR antibody may be required due to differences in protocols and secondary/substrate sensitivity.
A portion of amino acids 205-231 from the human protein was used as the immunogen for this OSCAR antibody.
Aliquot the OSCAR antibody and store frozen at -20oC or colder.Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
