The protein encoded by this gene belongs to thesubtilisin-like proprotein convertase family. The members of thisfamily are proprotein convertases that process latent precursorproteins into their biologically active products. This encodedprotein is a calcium-dependent serine endoprotease. It isstructurally related to its family members, PACE and PACE4. Thisprotein is concentrated in the trans-Golgi network, associated withthe membranes, and is not secreted. It can process proalbumin andis thought to be responsible for the activation of HIV envelopeglycoproteins gp160 and gp140. This gene has been implicated in thetranscriptional regulation of housekeeping genes. Multiplealternatively spliced transcripts are described for this gene buttheir full length nature is not yet known. Downstream of thisgene"s map location at 11q23-q24, nucleotides that match part ofthis gene"s 3" end are duplicated and inverted. A translocationbreakpoint associated with lymphoma occurs between this gene andits inverted counterpart.
Titration of the PCSK7 antibody may be required due to differences in protocols and secondary/substrate sensitivity.
A portion of amino acids 692-721 from the human protein was used as the immunogen for this PCSK7 antibody.
Aliquot the PCSK7 antibody and store frozen at -20oC or colder.Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
