The protein encoded by this gene is involved in theefficient repair of DNA single-strand breaks formed by exposure toionizing radiation and alkylating agents. This protein interactswith DNA ligase III, polymerase beta and poly (ADP-ribose)polymerase to participate in the base excision repair pathway. Itmay play a role in DNA processing during meiogenesis andrecombination in germ cells. A rare microsatellite polymorphism inthis gene is associated with cancer in patients of varyingradiosensitivity.
Titration of the XRCC1 antibody may be required due to differences in protocols and secondary/substrate sensitivity.
A portion of amino acids 407-435 from the human protein was used as the immunogen for this XRCC1 antibody.
Aliquot the XRCC1 antibody and store frozen at -20oC or colder.Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
